Adaptec has always been synonymous with SCSI,
which may be partly the reason for their current
struggles to compete in the SATA/SAS world.
The 2230SLP is their latest 2-channel U320 SCSI RAID
controller model using a PCI-X interface.
Notice how it has come a long way from the DPT days
when the cards were much more massive, intimidating,
and had several slots for cache memory modules.

Configuration of the card can be
done through its own BIOS, or through the much
more convenient ASM interface through Windows:

ASM is one of the easiest to use
and most configurable RAID front-ends we've
seen. Although it uses Java, it can be a
tad slow to take effect sometimes.
