LSI 9260-8i SAS 6Gbps RAID CONTROLLER REVIEW

Conclusion

LSI has once again produced a solidly consistent RAID controller with amazing performance numbers.  As time goes on, we expect LSI to address the RAID-5 and RAID-6 issues with firmware and/or driver updates, as they have done in the past with previous MegaRAID controllers.  The 6.0 Gbps SAS bandwidth became relevant only during the burst tests of only the fastest drives.  We expect that to change as SSDs drop in price, improve in performance, and adopt the SAS interface standard.  LSI's 9260-8i is one of the first 6.0Gbps SAS RAID controllers, but it surely feels like a seasoned veteran, easily matching up to HDD heavyweights!
