PROMISE EX4650 + 4x WD RE2-GP 1TB
Introduction
Promise Technology
recently launched a new set of SAS/ATA RAID
controllers, some of which we've already reviewed.
Those were the Fast Trak TX2650/4650 PCIe 1x cards.
Here, we take a closer look at their small forward,
heavy hitter indeed, the SuperTrak EX 4650.
This particular unit has four internal ports through
one mini-SAS connector.
The testbed used is

Under the hood the
EX4650 has a 667MHz Intel processor, 128MB of DDR2
memory, and a hardware XOR engine to offload RAID
parity calculations from the CPU.
The operating system is
Windows XP Professional 64-bit Edition.
