U320 SCSI HDD ROUNDUP

Fujitsu MAU3073
Fujitsu has a major
reputation in the SCSI drive business, especially in
the Asia Pacific region. Their performance is known
to be very good, and reliability to be excellent.
Below is their MAU series drive, and its performance
test results.

This particular drive has an 80-pin SCA connector, widely used in hot-swap applications...

This drive has the 68-pin LVD connector, more common in workstation applications...

HD Tach 3.0.1.0 RW, 8MB Zones: Burst: 240.1 MB/s, Ave. Read: 80.7 MB/s, Ave. Write: 74.8 MB/s, Random Access: 6.0 ms, CPU: 1%

HD Tach 3.0.1.0 RW, 32MB Zones:
Burst: 240.5 MB/s, Ave. Read: 81.5 MB/s, Ave.
Write: 79.3 MB/s, Random Access: 6.0 ms, CPU: 1%

HD Tach 3.0.1.0 RW, Var. Zones: Burst: 240.1
MB/s, Ave. Read: 81.4 MB/s, Ave. Write: 80.9 MB/s,
Random Access: 5.9 ms, CPU: 1%

Here in the ATTO Disk Benchmark, we see the Fujitsu MAU show consistent results throughout the range of chunk sizes, peaking at about 96 MB/s for reads, and 92 MB/s for writes.
Below are the results of the 2-drive RAID_0 and
RAID_1 tests using Adaptec Host Raid:

Impressive numbers
showing 84% increase in reads and about a 67%
increase in writes for RAID_0.

Slightly slower write
performance, and equally slight performance increase
in reads over a single drive.
