Seagate's HDDs are getting bigger and faster
indeed. Bigger is definitely better, and faster is as
well, no doubt. Seagate is first to enter the market
with a 750GB HDD, and as shown here, it is no slouch.
With the backing of a 5-year warranty, excellent support,
and expertise from a (former) major competitor now part of
their team (Maxtor), expect Seagate products only to get
better, that is, even bigger, and even faster.
Our verdicts are as follows...
Barracuda
7200.9: 97%
Barracuda 7200.10:
99%
Why knock off one point for the 7200.10? Its not
free. But seriously folks, there's always room for
improvement. In other words, we could not find
anything we did not like about the 7200.10. 99% is the
highest score we can possibly give!
Why knock off two points for the 7200.9? Simply
because it has to be rated below the 7200.9 - it scored
lower in the benchmarks, and more specifically, the random
access time needs improvement.
