Conclusion

In the world of RAID, there was Adaptec and everyone else back in the 90s and early 2000s.  Then an upstart called Areca came along and annihilated everyone with performance but impressed no one with lackluster support.  Now, Adaptec returns with the 5-series, and with just TWO Cheetah 15k6s, we get performance that exceeds some Areca benchmarks with 8x Barracuda HDDs.  1GB/sec!

Although not an exact comparison, the results speak for themselves.  Adaptec is back, and looks like they're here to stay.  LSI, are you there?

How about the 15k.6 you ask?  Well, it sprinted to yet another record-setting performance.  Seagate makes no compromises with the Cheetah series.  Faster, bigger, and more reliable this drive is just better all around.  Imagine what the 15k.7 will be!
