SUPER SAS HDD ROUNDUP

Introduction
SAS is a relatively
interface closely related to SATA. In fact,
the connectors are nearly identical, except for a
small portion which prevents SATA cables from
plugging into SAS HDDs. SAS is serialized
SCSI, much like how SATA is serialized PATA.
SAS hums along at 3Gbps, again like SATA II. So do we expect performance to remain the same,
decrease or increase? Regardless of how the
benchmarks come out, one thing is for sure: SAS simplifies cabling, improves airflow, and looks
to be much less expensive to implement compared to
older parallel SCSI.
The testbed used is
comprised of the following components:
The operating system is
Windows XP Professional 64-bit Edition.
