Three
hundred gigabytes?! That's it? Jeez man, I can
get a 400GB easily from other vendors. Or, I
can RAID a couple 250's together for half a TB.
Sure, and risk losing your data. Besides, I
don't think you've seen this kind of performance
from a non-SCSI drive since the Raptor 74GB.
Maxtor drives were always lurking in the middle of
the pack. They fell behind Western Digital and
Hitachi/IBM in recent years. Today, they have
reinvented themselves with the first 3.5" non-SCSI
HDDs with a 16MB buffer. Their recent Atlas
SCSI drives have snatched top dog honors from
Seagate's Cheetah and Fujitsu's MAP/MAS series, and
such exceedingly impressive DNA had finally been
spliced into their sibling's 7200RPM HDD genes.
