Conclusion
With four 15,000 RPM SAS
drives, the EX4650 should no longer see any
bottlenecks between itself and data. However,
we are still seeing some performance issues
especially with write-heavy and calculation-heavy
array types. Perhaps spindle sync and improved
firmware between the HDD, controller, or both, can
improve performance without sacrificing data or
array integrity.
Nevertheless, we here
are concerned about system performance, and can make
do with data security through other means (ie.
backup data arrays). This combo can truly
provide any power user with crazy-fast RAID-0 boot
and scratch disks, plowing through any large data
set such as photoshop files, video streams, or
massive databases, like a hot soldering iron through
toilet paper.
So we award the Fujitsu
MBA3300RC, a stellar 90%:
