FUJITSU MBA3300NC x4 + LSI MEGARAID 320-2E

Introduction

One of the last companies still producing U320 SCSI drives, Fujitsu has managed to create a 300GB monster spinning at 15,000RPM.  So our objective here today is to see how fast four of these drives will perform with an LSI MegaRAID 320-2E with an upgraded 512MB of cache.

GB:
One gigabyte (GB) = one billion bytes; accessible capacity will be less and actual capacity depends on the operating environment and formatting.
The formatted capacity is an estimate for 512 bytes per sector.
Rank:
Energy efficiency based on the Law Concerning the Rational Use of Energy indicates the value obtained by dividing power consumption by the storage capacity (Japan only).
MB:
One megabyte (MB) as 1,048,576 bytes for Hard Disk Drives' cache size.
Small portion of buffer memory is used for drive firmware control.
Bels:
A unit for indicating noise levels. 1 Bels is equivalent to 10 decibels.
ºC:
degree C.

The testbed used is comprised of the following components, and the OS is Windows XP x64.

In the LSI RAID management software, we see how it detects the Fujitsu drives:
