Conclusion
As you may have deduced
from the results on the previous page, the
benchmarks show that the 7K100 is not
head-and-shoulders above the 5400 RPM Momentus
5400.3 from Seagate. However, the 7200 RPM
spindle speed does provide THE MOST IMPORTANT and satisfying result,
which cannot be easily demonstrated in a benchmark:
Real-world, seat-of-your-pants feeling of quickness.
The 7K100 launched apps faster, opened files
quicker, and booted up Windows XP with less time
waiting.
The Hitachi Travelstar
7K100 deserves to be called...
Now, if only they'd put
16MB of ultra-low-power cache on it!
