HITACHI 5K160 160GB
Windows XP Performance
We ran our standard HD Tach 3.0
and ATTO tests to see how well the 5K160 and its new
PMR recording handles throughput.
First is the 8MB Zone test in HD
Tach. Comparing this to our previous winner,
the
Seagate Momentus 5400.3 160GB, the 5K160
slightly outperforms it:
In the
32MB Zone test, the 5K160 comes up on top again:
Lastly,
in the Variable Zones test, the 5K160 still
maintains its lead over the Momentus 5400.3:
The Atto
test shows a different story. Here, the 5K160
shows inconsistent performance between 16k and 32k
writes. The 5K160 out-reads the Momentus
5400.3, but is out-written in this test. The
Momentus 5400.3 has far more consistent writes, and
higher number as well.
