When I was in college, 10BT was HOT. Then I
started my first job, and 100BT was cutting edge.
Today, gigabit networks are replacing 100BT LANs
because of the CAT5 cable compatibility. Many
gigabit products are still more than twice the cost
of their 100BT equivalents, however some components
are affordable enough for the SOHO market. One
such product is the Airlink101 8-Port Gigabit
Ethernet Switch. It can be found for less than
$90, and there is even a 5-port model which is even
les expensive. But does it perform?
