Needless to say, the PC-DL Deluxe has now achieved the status
of what the Abit BP-6 once established - crazy overclocking
possibilities with rock-solid stability. With a pair
of Xeons D1 stepping or newer, a pair of good memory sticks,
and some basic electronics skillz, one can easily create a
snarling monster of a 'puter. An FSB of 250MHz or
faster will breathe new life into all your games and
applications by speeding up memory performance tremendously,
plus the ICH5R-based RAID allows crazy-fast disk I/O without
the need for additional controllers or drivers.
The only negatives that one can place against the PC-DL
is its lack of 64-bit PCI slots, and having the Vdimm
adjustable in the BIOS. Otherwise, all that can be
said about this board is mighty praise. So far, no one
has offered to part with their PC-DLs in the past few
months. I have seen newer, bigger, badder boards being
sold in various forums. But, PC-DLs are disproportionately
fewer than all others. That itself says something
significant about the quality and performance of the PC-DL.
And just like the Iwill MPX-2, the PC-DL will be regarded
as a rare gem of engineering excellence. Before you
know it, Asus may stop producing it for one reason or
another. So if you own a PC-DL, don't sell it! |
