ASUS M4A79T DELUXE

Now we get to the
benchmarks. For our test, we use Windows XP
SP3, the Phenom II X4 955, and 4GB of Crucial's
Ballistix DDR3-1600 memory:
What can we expect? If the memory controller is in the CPU, then scores
should not change very much right? Well, BIOSes have a lot to do with how
a CPU and its memory controller is configured and initialized. This is
where motherboard manufacturers can make or miss their mark. Let's see how
Asus did compared to the Gigabyte board. Best scores in
GREEN.

Okay so this situation sorta sucks -
the scores are statistically identical!!! The
only place where we see a significant and tangible
difference is in power consumption. Perhaps
Asus' increased efficiency really does pay off in
the real world. As for performance, no
difference really between the two boards, but in
layout, features, and on-board bells and whistles,
there are many. Gigabyte has more SATA ports,
dual Ethernet, an illuminated CMOS reset button, but
only 2x x16 PCIe slots. Asus has Express Gate,
more efficient with power, four x16 PCIe slots, but
fewer SATA ports, and only one Ethernet port.
So in the end, its up to the end-user to determine
which features are more important, and also to weigh
that against current street prices. But if it
were up to me, the M4A79T Deluxe is a better buy
because of the additional flexibility the FOUR x16
slots provide.
