ACTON MINI OPTICAL MOUSE

Introduction

Acton is a newcomer in the world of input devices.  Their website is currently loaded with optical mice products only, however we anticipate success for this small yet innovative company.  Expect more products from them soon.  We hope you find their products interesting enough to go out and purchase them at your local PC retailer, or online.

Mini Optical Mouse

First, we shall examine the Acton Mini Optical Mouse.  As you can see, it is professionally packaged in a retail box with an internal clamshell-like protection for the mouse.

The Mini Optical Mouse is housed in a clear plastic shell, most likely acrylic.  It feels very solid, not thin at all.  It has two buttons, and a wheel in the middle which has its own button when depressed.  It has a convenient retractable USB cord, ideal for quick getaways from boring boardroom meetings.  It also reduces clutter a bit in your laptop bag.

From the photo below, you can see that the mouse has a small cover on the back, revealing a compartment of some kind.  I believe you can use it to insert a photo inside the mouse.  Or, store magic beans!

You may also notice that the mouse buttons, wheel and a curved line forms a smiley face.  Not very professional, but may be a good reminder to chill out, all you stress monkeys in corporate land!

We took the Mini Optical Mouse with us on a recent trip to a trade show in Atlanta.  Three days of utter boredom - non-stop coffee, power point presentations, and of course, mouse clicking on solitaire and minesweeper to pass the time.  Occasionally, we'd actually get a good enough wifi signal to be able to  browse the web, and check emails.

The verdict is that the Mini Optical Mouse performed very well.  It is small like other portable mice, and that comes with its own discomfort.  However, the small buttons are actually loved by some, and loathed by others.  It really depends n your taste.  The mouse is fairly responsive, and the scroll wheel has just enough resistance on it.  All in all, it is a pleasing and very functional traveling mouse.  Now only if they added some blue LEDs shining into the clear acrylic shell, then it'd truly be an eye-catching product!

Overall...96%
